Still Waiting

Well, it has been 9 months and 3 days since our paperwork arrived in Taiwan, (not that I'm counting or anything!) and we are still waiting on a referral. Our "paper pregnancy" has now lasted as long as an average physical pregnancy! We are anxious for it to be over! About a month ago, I emailed our caseworker at our adoption agency and had her ask the staff at the agency in Taiwan if we have been shown to birthmothers yet. (I had asked at 4 months and 6 months and the answer was no.) This time the answer was yes! This is progress, and it is encouraging, but it makes it even harder to wait. I participate in a forum for people adopting from Taiwan, and it scares me to see people who have waited 14 months for a referral, a few even giving up and choosing another program. However, it seems that the average wait is still between 10 and 12 months right now, so we are hoping to hear something soon.

Erin and Dan,

I liked reading your blog and finding out what's going on. I'll be thinking about you all and hoping that it won't be much longer until you have your little one.

Now your mother and I are going to have the pie that we brought back from Lexington.

Love, Brenda J.

While we were in Florida and away from our e-mail, I wondered what was going on with the adoption. It is now April and I hope you have heard some positive news.
Sending our love,
Marlene and Harold
