Welcome to our blog! We hope that this site will help family and friends share in the excitement, joy, and sometimes frustration of our adoption journey. I'll start out by briefly describing the process we are going through.

We officially began our adoption journey almost exactly one year ago, although we had already been doing research on country programs, international agencies, and homestudy agencies for months. We signed with Commonwealth Adoptions' Taiwan program and contacted Lutheran Social Services to start our homestudy in January 2005.

We knew from the very beginning that we wanted to adopt from Asia. We were led to Taiwan's program because we met all of their program requirements (length of marriage, age, etc.), and we were very impressed with how well children are cared for while waiting for their families. We have requested a healthy girl aged 0-24 months.

Our paperwork has been in Taiwan for just over 7 months now, and we continue the very difficult task of waiting for that life changing phone call telling us that we have a referral, that our daughter is waiting for us. Once we receive and accept a referral, we will then get to work completing more documents and then wait several more months until we get the news that we are able to travel to pick up our daughter.
